We are partnering with a pioneering biotech company based out of San Diego, CA in the synthetic biology space. They have developed a benchtop gene synthesis workstation that is the world's first and only DNA printer. They are looking for a motivated individual to join their team as a Business Development Manager in the Mid-Atlantic territory. This individual will be working closely with the inside sales and field applications team to identify new opportunities, expand the customer base, and support existing accounts.
The Business Development Manager will:
- Successfully manage a complex sales process for capital equipment, consumables, and related services
- Accurately manage sales pipeline activities by managing existing customers and continuously working to expand our customer base
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless equipment installation, training, and post-sales support for clients
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to expand market share and achieve revenue goals for the Mid-Atlantic territory (PA, NJ, DE, MD, DC, VA, WV)
- Provide regular updates on progress towards meeting assigned quotas
- Work remotely and attend trade shows/conferences
- Travel will vary but may be as high as 50% on a weekly basis
Business Development Manager Qualifications:
- 4+ years' experience in commercial life science roles required
- Excellent understanding of molecular biology and gene synthesis required
- Experience in selling capital equipment preferred
- Demonstrated track record of strong lead generation and prospecting, meeting and exceeding sales target
- Strong understanding of Biotech, Pharma, and research organizations required
- Thrive in a start-up, rapidly growing environment
- Must be located in the Mid-Atlantic
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences (advanced degree in life science preferred)
- Business degree with strong commercial molecular biology experience will be considered
