Job Title: Scientist II/III, Medicinal Chemistry

Position Summary :
We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative, and data-driven Medicinal Chemist with broad drug discovery experience and strong technical and problem-solving skills in Organic and Medicinal Chemistry. The successful candidate will join the Medicinal Chemistry team and collaborate in the discovery of high-quality drug candidates, provide technical leadership in a flexible, cross-functional team environment, and have excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on leadership in the design, synthesis and characterization of molecules as part of drug discovery efforts
- Evaluate the data on potency, in vitro ADME and pharmacokinetic information in the development of Structure Activity Relationships (SAR) and its application to lead optimization
- Collaborate as part of integrated, cross-functional program teams towards the advancement of high-quality drug candidates into clinical development
- Contribute to the development of intellectual property
- Act as an exemplary, data-driven scientist
- Proactively share drug discovery and development experience with the team and collaborate with colleagues to generate new program ideas
- Mentor/lead other chemists as required
Essential Qualifications
- D. in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry with โฅ3-5 years of drug discovery experience in a pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology setting
- Contemporary knowledge of the key Medicinal Chemistry concepts and good understanding of biology, pharmacology, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics
- Skilled at working in a dynamic multidisciplinary environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills are essential
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience in working with external chemistry teams at CRO's
- Experience in structure-based drug design and computational chemistry
- Experience in progressing compounds from hit identification to clinical candidates
Education and Experience
Ph.D. in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry
โฅ3-5 years of drug discovery experience in a pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology setting
Technical Skills Requirements
- A strong working knowledge of the latest developments in medicinal and Organic Chemistry
- Strong in depth knowledge and problem solving skills in Synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry
- Excellent understanding of the drug discovery process and demonstrated ability to identify development candidates
- Broad experience in hit identification techniques (library screening, virtual screening etc) is a plus
- Self-motivated, can work independently and contribute practical solutions to project challenges.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
